Description During the period of years 1988-2001 89 patients with hypopharyngeal carcinoma were treated at the ENT clinic of the St. Ann's University Hospital in Brno. The retrospective survival analysis of 76 patients shows the five-year overall survival 9% at the unfavorable structure of stage of the disease (stage I 3%, stage II 7%, stage III 20%, stage IV 70%), in the survival analysis of the patients treated with the curative intention the five-year overall survival is 18.5%. The median live expectancy of palliative treated patients was estimated to 8.5 months.
