Description The authors recorded in 1991-1995 the morbidity rate of children during the first three years of their lives. The research was done in two-Brno and Znojmo- groups. The subjects of the research were children participating in the ELSPAC study. ELSPAC is conducted by WHO in several European countries. The group is formed by children born 1991 and 1992 having their permanent domicile in Brno and Znojmo district. The following issues were followed-up: morbidity rate, the most frequent acute diseases, antibiotics used for treatment and the most frequent chronic diseases. The authors found a relationship between the age and morbidity rate. The younger the child was, the lower was his morbidity rate. The morbidity rate in Brno was higher than in Znojmo. Other findings: the most frequent diseases are those of upper and lower airways, the antibiotics which are used most often for the treatment are Ampicilin (and Penstabil). In the first 18 months of the life, the most frequent disease is atopic eczema.
