Description | Cytokinin metabolites of the adenine type were measured in seedlings of tobacco grown on media supplemented with zeatin, isopentenyladenine or dihydrozeatin. The treatment caused typical cytokinin effects, such as shortening of the primary root and thickening of hypocotyls. These morphological changes were accompanied by accumulation of selected cytokinin species in the tissues of treated seedlings. Content of various forms of cytokinins in the seedlings was measured by LC/MS/MS and compared to values simulated by a mathematical model of cytokinin conversions in plants. |
