Description The adsorption of polyadenylic acid (poly A) at mercury electrode in 0.1 M and 0.9 M NaCl at pH 5 and pH 8 was studied by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. At room temperature the single stranded poly A (pH 8) yields a high tensammetric capacitance peak at -1.4 V vs. SCE. The peak is higher and narrower at low ionic strengths. The height of the peak decreases with increasing frequency at low ionoic strengths, while it is almost independent on frequencz at higher ionic strengths. With the double helical poly A (pH 5) only a small tensammetric peak is observed.
