Description Banded quartz-magnetite ores placed conformably to the foliation of retrogradely metamorphosed gneisses of the Desná-group occur in the Mnišské jámy locality.Direct participation of volcanic basic material in forming of banded magnetite ores and protolite of neighbouring gneisses is probable. We can even think of bimodal volcanism if the layer of quarzitic gneiss corresponds to metamorphosed acid volcanic material. With regard to a possible portion of some clastic components in the ore, its origin in magmatogenic apatite and magnetite from sands can be considered too.
