Description The long-lost bryophyte herbarium of K. Rybníček, an outstanding Czech mire ecologist, was recently found at the Institute of Botany of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Czech Republic. We revised specimens of seven relict rich-fen species, the occurrences of which were compiled in a paper by Hájková et al. (published in Preslia, 2018). Our revision has provided information on four new localities, one of Calliergon giganteum, two of Hamatocaulis vernicosus and one of Meesia triquetra, and revealed eight so far unknown herbarium specimens documenting Rybníček’s literature reports on Drepanocladus trifarius, Meesia triquetra, Paludella squarrosa and Scorpidium scorpioides. The specimen of Drepanocladus lycopodioides, which was sampled in the Padrtiny mire nearby Velké Dářko lake in 1956 and originally identified as Scorpidium scorpioides, was found as well. This species is recently known in the Czech Republic from a single site, a secondary habitat in the Rasová quarry 155 km from the Padrtiny site. Two specimens of Hamatocaulis vernicosus were re-identified as Sarmentypnum exannulatum. All specimens represent valuable evidence of the past occurrence of relict fen species in the Czech Republic and Slovakia and are deposited in the BRNU herbarium.
