Description |
The traveling exhibition Slavs - Life and Death was prepared and realized by students of the Master's degree in Museology under the supervision of the teachers. The Department of Archaeology and Museology, through the exhibition, installed from June to September 2023 in the Atrium of the Faculty Building M, conveys one of its central thematic areas of long focused research and publication activities. In addition to the basic exhibition panels on the everyday life of the Slavs (from clothing, living, eating, crafts, spiritual life to burial), the exhibition also includes a large number of exhibits (originals and replicas of objects) that document their life. The exhibited objects come from the study collection of the department, but also from partner museums and memory institutions. The exhibits include, for example, a 3D replica of a pagan idol from Kouřim, ceramic vessels, an urn, replicas of pre-Great Moravian and Great Moravian jewellery made by Pavel Čáp, tools, implements obtained by archaeological research by department archaeologists at Pohansko near Břeclav, as well as the clothing of an elite woman and a farmer. The exhibition also includes a reconstruction of a grave found in the tomb created by 3D printing and other interactive elements. It is represented by a holographic display of 3D models, as well as a special virtual view using VR goggles that shows a view of the skeleton grave with the charity. The traveling exhibition is adapted to the age group of older elementary school students and high school students. After de-installation in the faculty space, from October 2023 onwards, the exhibition will be available for free loan to schools and other interested public and cultural institutions (museums, libraries, offices, information centres, leisure centres, etc.).
