Description | The paper reflects on the appearance, development, and types of collections of scholia on the books of the New Testament appeared in Byzantium. The paper focuses on the different layouts through which such collections survive in Greek Byzantine manuscripts as well as on the para-textual elements which usually accompany them in codices (numbers, titles, decoration). The paper puts forward the case of the oldest manuscript preserving scholia on the Bible, the so-called Codex Zacynthius. |
