| Description | The solution is a method of determining the prognosis of a patient suffering from follicular lymphoma by determining the amount of miR-31 in an isolated biological sample of the patient, and based on this determination, assigning the patient to a prognostic group, the prognostic groups and cut-off values for assigning to the prognostic groups are obtained by analyzing the amount of miR-31 in biological samples of patients with a known prognosis. In a biological sample taken from the patient's body, the expression of miR-31 can be determined together with the expression of an endogenous control, which is a small nuclear RNA or a stably expressed miRNA, and in the case of absolute quantification, the expression of synthetic standards of these miRNAs and endogenous controls of a known number of molecules. Determining prognosis does not include determining the transformation of follicular lymphoma into diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. The method can be used to assign patients to prognostic groups by determining the expression of miR-31. |
