Description The study analyzes at what calendar age Czech female high jumpers reached the level of their maximum performance in track races. It also describes the performance curve for female high jumpers, which reached their personal maximum in the observed period and at the same time reached a performance of 190 cm and higher. The source of data was official online statistics of the Czech Athletics Association and World Athletics (formerly IAAF). The period from 2003 to 2018 was selected for this analysis, which was subsequently divided into two eight-year periods(2003–2010, n = 16; 2011–2018, n = 31). ANOVA results showed no significant differences in age or mean performance between the first (21.31 ± 3.94 years; 178.9 ± 9.35 cm) and the second (19.52 ± 3.79 years; 177.9 ± 7.12 cm) of the observed periods. Female high jumpers with a career maximum of 190 cm and higher from both monitored periods (n = 7) reached the limit of 180 cm already in the 15th–21st year of his life. Two female high jumpers reached their current career maximum (190 cm and 194 cm) at the age of 18–19, while the remaining 5 analyzed high jumpers achieved the best career performance (190 cm, 192 cm, 195 cm, 195 cm and 196 cm) in age 26–27 years. The findings of the study support the opinion that the current youth undergoes premature specialization instead of full, harmonious and gradual development aimed at achieving peak performance optimally after the age of 25.
