Description The Borderline Symptom List 23 (BSL- 23) is a self-report questionnaire for assessing borderline personality disorder (BPD) symptom severity. This study evaluated the psychometric properties of the Czech version of the BSL-23. To our knowledge, no other measure for BPD symptom severity was previously available in the Czech Republic. The Czech version was completed by 174 healthy respondents and 57 patients with BPD. Factor structure, internal consistency, discriminant validity, and convergent validity were analysed. The Czech version showed high discriminant, and convergent validity – the scale differentiated between healthy respondents and patients with a large effect size (d = 2,03) and the BSL-23 score was moderately to highly positively correlated with the severity of emotion dysregulation, posttraumatic stress disorder symptoms, and dissociation. The BSL-23 in its Czech translation showed excellent psychometric properties and is ready for use with Czech patients.
