Description With the rapid development of smart cities, there has been a variety of smart city models that are proposed to facilitate the smart city design and service architecture. Meanwhile those smart city models also create complexity to follow the models and it is difficult to observe how the models can work collaboratively as well as how to possibly improve the models. Therefore, this paper firstly classifies the smart city models with a conceptual and structural view, where the conceptual models focus on the interactions of components and the structural models are featured by layers with processes. Based on the model classification, the paper further evaluates the models with service structure, interoperability, multi-context and adaptability. The evaluation results can be used to compare, select and improve the smart city models and service design.
