Citation
Description Studies to date have shown that although psychotherapy can be considered an effective method of treating psychosomatic problems, it does not have the same efficacy as, for example, in the case of depression and other mental health problems. This raises the question of what works in psychotherapy for psychosomatic problems. In our paper we will focus on the so-called mechanisms of therapeutic change, i.e. the processes that explain how (through what) change actually occurs. We will introduce not only the findings of existing research studies, but also the current results of our own research. In these, we worked with questionnaire data from approximately 400 clients from seven Czech health care institutions, in which these clients received daily care based on group psychotherapy, supplemented by other activities such as art therapy, physiotherapy or relaxation training.
