| Description | This presentation will be an overview of the spiritual occult and esoteric use of psychedelic substances in the contemporary world. It will provide a historical overview and an account of the various practices, techniques, and cultures which have been pooled into what is now considered the Psychedelic Renaissance. Particular attention will be provided to the period of the 60' countercultural movement which forms the bedrock of the contemporary usage of psychedelics. Moreover, there will be an analysis of the figure of the Shaman, commonly attributed to traditional cultures, it is now being readopted from a modernist perspective. |
