Description Coaches determine the development of sport at all levels in a vital way. Their work is reflected in success at international sports competitions and the development of the recreational sport. However, we often encounter a lack of quality coaches. This unsatisfactory situation is exacerbated by the fact that female coaches make up only a minority in the coaching profession. The theoretical study aims to present selected organizational and project activities aimed at improving gender inequality in coaching. In this context, we ask ourselves the following research questions: How did gender inequality in coaching arise? In what settings did the first female coaches appear? When did the organizational support for female coaches begin to develop? In which countries are there projects focused on the gender issue of coaching? Does coach education reflect the absence of female coaches? The answers to these questions suggest that international examples of good practice, in particular, can strengthen the necessary interventions at national, association and club level, involve experienced female coaches in mentoring programs or contribute to coaching innovation to increase the number of female coaches.
