Description | Kasabach-Merrita syndrome is a rare complication associated with some types of hemangiomas. It occurs typically in early childhood and is manifested in particular by increased hemangioma, thrombocytopenia and coagulopathy of varying severity. Our patient was hospitalized for chylotic ascites at four weeks of age. Then, severe coagulopathy, anemia and thrombocytopenia not responding to substitution were detected. At our clinic, the baby boy was scheduled to be admitted to treatment for three months. He had gone through many examinations before. In the laboratory, anticoagulants, microangiopathic haemolytic anemia and hemolytic uremic syndrome were excluded, and a relatively rare diagnosis of Kasabach Merrito was suspected. Immediately prior to translation, the patient experienced an episode of life-threatening enteral arthritis. |
