Description | The technical solution concerns a catheter for irreversible electroporation of bile ducts. Irreversible electroporation, referred to as IRE, is a therapeutic ablation method used for ablative treatment of tumors. The devices that are currently using this method are formed by needle-shaped electrodes for insertion into tissues, high electric pulses are being transmitted to these electrodes. This results in cell membrane pore formation and subsequent apoptosis. However, these devices can not be used in the ablation of biliary duct stenosis. Therefore, catheters for ablation of bile ducts are formed by tubes, end-fitted with the ring-shaped electrodes, which are placed next to each other and electric discharges run between these rings. The disadvantage of this embodiment is that the ablation occurs in the bile duct along the entire periphery of the catheter. The object of the invention is therefore to provide a catheter for irreversible electroporation to allow the catheter to be adjusted so that ablation occurs only in the set part of the bile duct. The target is achieved by a catheter according to a technical solution, which consists in the fact that it is formed by an electrically non-conductive wall, and there are electrodes horizontally placed around the stent arranged for connection to a high frequency source. The surface of the electrically non-conducting stent is typically provided with an electrically non-conductive layer, which is preferably formed by a silicone. The catheter according to the technical solution is intended for the irreversible electroporation of bile ducts, but does not rule out the possibility of its use for ablation in other parts of the human body. |
