| Description | The lecture will focus on the phenomenon of contemporary Satanism. In the beginning the lecture will briefly present a historical context and inspirational influences of modern Satanism, origins of which might possibly date back to foundation of the Church of Satan in the late 1960s. Furthermore, the lecture will deal with the social perception of Satanism, more specifically the phenomenon of Satanic Panic. The forms of contemporary Satanism will be presented on the system of believes and practices of selected Satanic organizations and groups such as Church of Satan, Temple of Set, The Satanic Temple, Order of Nine Angles and Church of Azazel. A part of the lecture will be devoted to the use of Satanic expression in metal music, especially in black metal where these kinds of expressions play an important role. |
