Description In the Czech Republic, after 1989 the retail trade has undergone many changes, of which the most important was the transition from a centrally planned economy to a market economy. The shopping behavior of virtually all population groups has also changed very strongly. The aim of the text is to identify areas in the area of Brno where it is not possible to buy food within a certain distance from the place of residence. The purchasing behavior of virtually all population groups has also changed very strongly. The aim of the text is to identify areas in the area of Brno where it is not possible to buy food within a certain distance from the place of residence. Such areas are referred to as food deserts.Then, on both theoretical and empirical level, to analyze food deserts and propose solutions from the point of view of public authorities, the private sector and the inhabitants themselves.
