Description The aim of research was to demonstrate that physical fitness positively affects the times of kayak rides achieved by female junior slalom kayakers at distances of 40, 80, 200 and 600m. To test the physical fitness, the following standard tests were selected: bench-press, pull-ups, sit-ups eh and 12 minutes running. It turned out that the highest explanatory power for predicting the specific performance (speed of slalom kayak ride) has a bench-press. Our research shows that among the respective disciplines of specific performance there is a very strong correlation (Spearman‘s rank correlation coefficient ranges above 0.85). For all of the tested dependent variables (the achieved times of kayak rides depending on the number of bench-presses), we managed at a significance level of p <0.05 to prove the link between the achieved time of ride and the number of bench-presses per minute. However, this link is rather weak and Spearman’s correlation coefficient has a value of 0.35 for the 80m ride, or 0.31 for the 200m distance.
