Description | Amino acids fulfil broad functions in living organisms. They serve as basic units for the synthesis of peptides and proteins and also act as a building block for synthesis of various physiologically active molecules as an alkaloids, nucleotides and porphyrins. Besides several important biomolecules derived from the amino acids metabolism function as the cellular messengers and hormones. In this consequence the level of these compounds in organism can be used for the metabolomic analysis which can provide information about its physiological state. The subject of this contribution is application of capillary electrophoresis coupled with mass spectrometry detection to the separation and subsequent amino acids quantitation in various biological matrices as a spent culture medium used in assisted reproduction, human plasma or serum, and urine. |
