Description We present results on the modeled radial and temporal distribution of fundamental chemical species such as, for instance, electrons and nitride oxide (NO) induced by streamers within low pressure (4 torr) laboratory dielectric barrier discharges (DBD) mimicking the conditions under which Blue Jets (BJ), a type of Transient Luminous Events (TLE), occur from the cloud tops up to the stratosphere (35 km altitude). The plasma chemistry computations use as key input parameter the 2D (space-time) experimentally determined reduced electric field strength distribution within the streamer head determined from the ratio of the N2+(B2Sigma+u)/N2(C3Piu) band intensities with peak values up to 500 Td and overall duration of 10 ns. We compare and discuss our model results with available models of the streamer phase of Blue Jet discharges in the stratosphere.
