Description | Chronic pancreatitis is a disease where the functional pancreatic parenchyma is replaced with connective tissue and fibrogenesis is a crucial pathophysiological process. This leads to the formation of first exocrine insufficiency and histomorphological advanced stages of the disease and endocrine insufficiency. On this basis, chronic pancreatitis defined as a chronic inflammatory process is constantly progressing substituting parenchyma gland connective tissue. |
