Description A visitor to the town of Žďár nad Sázavou will be captivated, even from afar, by the sight of the crystalline architectural mass of the former pilgrimage church to St. John of Nepomuk atop the "Green Mount" (Zelená hora). This work by the architect Jan Santini-Aichel (1677–1723) was situated in the UNESCO Register of World Heritage, in 1994. Pictorial publication introduces the reader to Santini architecturally remarkable formation around Žďár. The greater part of the study is then devoted to the characteristics of the pilgrimage church. The current interpretations of the building are analyzed. Finally in the chapter From the Architect's Task to the Significance of Architectonic Form, highlighting in particular the different circumstances that led to the creation of such an extraordinary building.
