Description | The modern robotics has reached another level in its development. In the past two decades a completely new type of a robot, so called hybrot, was brought to life. Hybrots are robots equipped with traditional mechanic bodies and controlled by cultured living neurons. They are not any more simulation of a living organism but represent a new form of life. The aim of this paper is firstly to introduce hybrots from a technical point of view including description of the state of the art and possible future applications. Secondly, the paper shall focus on societal and in particular legal aspects related to the technology. Namely, the legal status of the technology, liability issues and possible challenges posed by the technology to the current legal system shall be explored and clarified. |
