Description We focused on the results of the the four basic swimming strokes (crawl, backstroke butterfly, breaststroke). The results we obtained by evaluation of data, measured by swimming system tachograph. We compared the variables (mean speed, variation coefficient, efficiency), which allow to quantify the selected interval of swimming. The highest mean swimming speed [m • s-1] we find out during crawl swimming stroke (1.68 men; 1.46 women), the second highest value is in butterfly (1.57 m; 1.32 w), the third back stroke (1.49 m; 1.33 w), fourth at the breast (1.22 m; 1.11 w). Using the variation coefficient, we evaluated the magnitude of the changes in the speed of the swimmer. Variation coefficient results are negatively correlated with the efficiency of swimming. Most preferably is back stroke swimming style (13.09 men, 14.40 women), together with a crawl (12.57 m, 14.91 w), the third is butterfly (19.40 m, 23.64 w), fourth breasts (50.0 m; 42.1 w). We described process of the instantaneous speed along with the kinematic analysis of the one swimming cycle (step) for all four swimming styles.
