It deals with the theoretical concept of sport, defines physical activity as well as discusses the mutual relation of culture and sport. The emphasis is put on socializing consequences of sport and the context of its two levels – recreational and top competitive sports. In connection with the role of sport and globalization, the text treats the issues of sports migration, while in its key section dealing with the phenomenon of sedentary society it takes a fresh look at the issues of active lifestyle and health.
