Description The monograph deals with kinetic and kinematic characteristics of gait in the general population of men and women in the Czech Republic. A sample of more than 200 adult probands divided into three biological periods of life allows us to create an illustrative example of the development and tendencies of pedestrian skills since the age of 18 years. Basic power and time characteristics of the support phase of the step between the sexes and different age groups are compared. As demonstrated by the results of the research, there is a significant change in particular temporal characteristics of walking with an increasing weight and age. Only a few differences in the relative vertical strength acting on the foot were found between men and women within the same age groups. With an increasing weight, we found a tendency towards a decreasing relative load of the foot at both load peaks during the step.
