Description | The optimal child development includes a healthy lifestyle, i.e. physical activity and rational nutrition. With children, physical activity recommendations are governed by their age, while with children patients they differ according to their state of health. There are specific recommendations for cardiac patients. With children suffering from diabetes and cystic fibrosis, suitable physical activity is included in their comprehensive treatment. Following the treatment of tumours, particularly surgeries in the area of the musculoskeletal system, children's physical activity may be limited. Also the radiotherapy and chemotherapy have unwanted, even late side effects, which include cardiotoxicity the monitoring of which is very important. Specific recommendations are necessary for children with obesity and the metabolic syndrome, where physical activity and optimal nutrition form a part of the comprehensive treatment. In nutrition it is necessary to adhere to the optimal supply of all nutrients and its management according to the food pyramid. |
