Description Transport geography is one of the classic geographical traditions in the Czech Republic but the number of scientists interested in this field has always been limited. Czech (transport) geography has developed in close relation with Slovak (transport) geography due to the long existence of the common state (former Czechoslovakia ceased to exist only in 1992). Both countries have remarkably similar languages, and essentially the same way of life and social, economic and political experience – the post-socialist transformation and entry to the European Union, connected with a noticeable reorganization of spatial interactions and transport relations. Last but not least, a close scientific cooperation has played an important role. For this reason, transport geography in both the Czech Republic and Slovakia will be examined in this article.
