Description | Increasing level of BMI among adolescents is an urgent health and social issues in most industrialised countries. Addressing non-communicable diseases which are largely preventable and result from unhealthy lifestyle is of high importance of research and policy priorites. This study investigated the relation of the BMI increase among Czech adolescents and young adults to the perception of neighbourhood design and physical activity. The correlates of Czech youngsters´BMI levels seem to b gender specific. Neither walkability nor physical activity did not turned out to be the mediators of BMI increase among young Czech females. It is probable that other lifestyle factors, such as diet, have to be taken to account when discussing this topic. |
