Description This chapter deals with the issue of the effect of acute application of dynamic and PNF stretching in relation to explosive strength abilities of upper and lower extremities. The tested set was composed of men – students of the Faculty of Sports Studies, Masaryk University, Brno (n=15) aged 20-25. The effect of dynamic and PNF stretching on explosive strength abilities was researched using standardized tests for vertical jump, long standing jump and medicimbal put with both hands (2kg). The testing was carried out in standard conditions (identical time, temperature and place) in two-week interval between the applications of different types of stretching. The tested persons had two attempts; the better one was included in the research. The results suggest that the tested set does not manifest any statistically significant differences between the values of observed parameters when applying dynamic and PNF stretching (vertical jump p=0.176, long standing jump p=0.476, medicimbal put p=0.383).
