Description | The late 20th and early 21st centuries are among the most magnifi cent periods of recent human history, infl uenced to a great extent by globalization. It has been a period of dramatic expansion of the world’s science and technology, and has been tremendously infl uenced by economic globalization based on a neoliberal paradigm. The theoretical, methodological, and practical discourse presented here indicates that the neoliberal economic system is untenable in the long term because it is based on speeding natural resource exploitation, continuous growth, and increased profi t, while failing to assign reasonable values to natural, social, or environmental capital. For this reason, it is necessary to search economic theories and social practices in order to fi nd an alternative, more objective social and environmental market economy model. |
