Description The development of Russian theater shows all the specifics of the new cultural direction of of Art Nouveau. The development of Russian ballet directly related to the incorporation of elements into a new style productions and presentations of Russian culture on the European and world stage. The author of this thesis present early theatrical activities of one of the most important ballet companies in the history of world theatre, Serge Diaghilev’s Les Ballet Russes, focusing on the period between 1909 and 1914. Therefore, the text can be viewed as an attempt to record the birth of Art Nouveau aesthetics in the European theatre as well as the influence it had on communication in the theatre. These Art Nouveau innovations became the norm for subsequent artistic movements.
