Description | In this article, the author deals with the problem concerning identification of various Pecheneg groups in the Balkans during the second half of the 11th century. His analysis is based predominantly on contemporary Byzantine written sources in which the authors describe encounters of the Byzantines with the Pecheneg nomads (both peaceful and military ones). Subsequently, the author offers a new hypothesis and attempts to enumerate and explain actions of Pecheneg groups using the facts known from the aforementioned written sources. |
