Description | The Journey and a Dream: Locating place of Austrian literature. Conference of Alumni of Franz Werfel Scholarship (organized by the Federal Ministry for Science and Research of Austria, Austrian Society for Academic Exchange and the Department of German at the University of Vienna) at Headquarters - Ebendorferstr. 7, 1010 Wien). Rudolf Kassner and Second Voyage. - Rudolf Kassner (1873-1959) undertook during his life many more or less exotic journeys and his friends, among them Rilke and Hofmannsthal, considered him due to his lifelong disability "a figure shrouded with heroic splendor." The metaphor in the title of his memoirs refers to Plato's Phaedo, or to Schopenhauer. It gives new meaning to human journey, at least in terms of Kassner’s personal myth. |
