Description Through the tension between proclaimed self-efficiency of Soviet block states in the 1950s and the nature of cinema as an industry dependent on world trade and standardization, this article looks at a particular technology change - adoption of widescreen technology and consequently preference of American-made Eastmancolor negative film stock instead of East-German Agfacolor.
