Description | The authors use clinical tumour classification - primary tumours, benign and malignant, metastatic tumours and tumour-like affections. Principal is WHO classification due to tissue affected. The complex examination includes also X-rays, CT scans and MRI. The indication of surgery consists of present/imminent collapse of vertebra, present/imminent neural deficit, up to 24 hours after the onset of plegia, or severe paresis. The extent of surgery depends on tumour extent and location and patient s age and condition. In case of primary tumours and isolated metastatic involvement in younger patients the authors perform radical surgery anterior, posterior and combined. |
