Description | Small colony variants (SCV) of S. aureus are frequently recovered from patients with chronic infection including airway infection in cystic fibrosis (CF). The study goal was to describe in detail the dynamics of the genotypic and phenotypic changes in a chronological collection of S. aureus SCV and their wild-type counterparts isolated from three CF patients (n=18) during 15 months at three- or five-month intervals. |
