Description | MiRNAs constitute a large class of single-stranded RNA molecules of 19 to 25 nucleotides that are involved in post-transcriptional gene silencing. MiRNAs not only regulate various developmental and physiologic processes but also are involved in cancer development and can play a role as an important biomarkers. The aim of this study was to determinate the expression levels of selected miRNA in the non-tumor PNT1A line in comparison with tumor lines 22Rv1, PC-3, and LNCaP. We used the TaqMan Gene Expression Assays and quantitative RT-PCR. We observed significantly higher (p<0.01) expression of miRNA 23a in all tumor lines compared to non-tumor PNT1A. Significantly higher (p<0.01) expression of miRNA 224 in 22Rv1 line compared to others and significantly higher (p<0.01) expression of miRNA 375 in all tumor lines in comparison with non-tumor PNT1A. |
