30th World Summer Universiade in Naples
Between 1st and 14th July, 14 sportsmen and women represented Masaryk University in 9 sports at the 30th World Summer Universiade in Naples. University students representing the Czech Republic won a total of 2 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals and ended up in 20th place overall.
The first gold medal for the Czech team was won by Lucie Brázdová in sports shooting. The student of the Faculty of Sports Studies achieved her own personal best in qualification with 628.1 points with all her shots on target for 10 points. She qualified for the final in 3rd place out of a field of 70. Her performance in scoring 250.3 in the final represented a universiade record in air-rifle shooting.
Martin Tuček from the Sports Faculty ran the 1st leg in the 4 x 400m relay team, which came 5th. The whole team was made up of Czech university students: M. Tuček from Masaryk University, L. Hodboď from Prague’s VŠE, F. Šenjdr from Prague’s Charles University, and V Mϋller from Prague’s ČZU.
